Primavera: Fiorentina 1-0 Torino

A 35th-minute goal from Samuele Spalluto was enough for Fiorentina to secure a 1-0 win over Torino on Saturday, a result that sees the Viola remain in 13th place, six points clear of Pescara in 14th.

“The result was important today,” said coach Emiliano Bigica after the win, which was Fiorentina’s first since 25 January. “We’ve been playing very well without getting the three points for too long. Credit to Torino because we knew they would cause us problems – they’re a very physical side. My players read the game well. We knew we might struggle in the second half, especially after taking the lead, but we had luck on our side and were able to get a massive three points.”

Centre-back Eduard Dutu praised his team-mates for the determination they showed in securing the win as he spoke to the media after the game.

“We’d gone too long without a win but we were desperate to get it,” he said. “The coach had told us that our mentality had been lacking but I think today we found an extra gear from that perspective too.”
