Primavera highlights and reaction: Fiorentina 1-2 Inter

Fiorentina Primavera slipped to a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Inter on Saturday.

Christian Koffi slotted the ball home to give the Viola the lead after ten minutes, but second-half goals from Tibo Persyn and Samuele Mulattieri saw the Nerazzurri turn the game on its head and secure all three points.

“I think we were very good in the first half – we scored and had other chances that we weren’t able to take,” said coach Emiliano Bigica after the game. “It required us to use a lot of energy, in addition to the effort we put in on Wednesday, but I had five players out there who didn’t play on Wednesday. Inter changed their approach and brought on an attacking player in [Wilfried] Gnonto, who is quite a quick, awkward player with good technical ability.

“We dropped a little deep – it’s not easy to maintain a high tempo and keep the team high up the field for the full 90 minutes against Inter. We’ll need to work on that because we’ll come up against teams that force us to play deeper. We need to do better and not give away so many crosses – that’s something we need to improve on.”
